One or Two-day workshop for final-year PhD students in Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences
Are you close to a full draft of your thesis? Does it resemble a baggy monster that needs taming? If so, this workshop is for you. Through activities and tutorials, you’ll learn techniques for getting your thesis into shape. By the end of the session, you’ll have a perfectly polished chapter and a clear strategy for tackling the rest of your thesis.
- How much time do you need for editing?
- What are your examiners looking for?
- Academic writing conventions
- Improving your thesis structure
- Signposting your argument
- Maintaining consistency, clarity and connections
- Wrangling with grammar and style
- Proofreading your own work
- Soliciting and implementing feedback
Attendees will need to bring a printed copy of a completed thesis chapter and a laptop.
Each topic comprises a facilitator-led tutorial and discussion, followed by a hands-on session during which participants apply the learning on their own thesis chapter. For two-day workshops, everyone swaps chapters on the final afternoon to practice giving and receiving constructive feedback.
Duration: 1 or 2 days
Fee: £725 for one day; £1,500 for two days (+ travel & accommodation, if needed)
